Player Ratings: United 1 Leicester City 0

Scott Mctominay –
He covered every blade of grass on the old Trafford pitch today . Tackled everything that moved . Had the Leicester midfield in his pocket. The fact that he played alongside matic and Mata against a dynamic Leicester midfield, makes this feat that much more outstanding. A MOTM performance for sure. – 8

Thank God. We have won a game of football. And this was the kind of victory that would have made  Jose proud. We dug in and came out the winners  in a tightly contested affair. Also we had our fair share of luck – which is always great. Anyway ,on to the player ratings –

Thank God. We have won a game of football. And this was the kind of victory that would have made  Jose proud. We dug in and came out the winners  in a tightly contested affair. Also we had our fair share of luck – which is always great. Anyway, on to the player ratings –

David De Gea
Had to make a couple of good saves. Nothing he couldn’t handle though.  – 6
Ashley Young
Was solid at the back . There were a couple of good deliveries into the box as well .  – 6
Harry Maguire
Every ball Leicester hoofs up the pitch seemed to bounce off his head. Every duel he engages in ,he seems to win with ease. A proper calm , commanding centre back performance . – 7
Victor Lindelof
Started off a bit shaky but grew into the game. But his long balls seemed to find no one in particular. An average display at best. – 6
Aaron Wan bissaka
Leicester tried playing every attacking option they had ,on the left , against the spider – but nobody could get past him. Did good in the attacking phases too. – 7

Scott Mctominay

Had the Leicester midfield in his pocket. The fact that he played alongside matic and Mata  against a  dynamic Leicester midfield, makes this feat that much more outstanding. A MOTM performance for sure. – 8
Nemanja Matic
Didn’t do much. But we never expected him to do anything.  He is not the player he once was . That’s the fact.  – 5
Juan Mata
There were a couple of instances were he displayed the movement and guile of the yesteryear Mata ,but it was too short and too far in between. The rest of the time he spend in losing the ball. – 5
Daniel James
Even if he doesn’t score goals or give assists ,we can for sure expect James to run his heart out – which is what he did today and to good effect . 6
Andreas Pereira
Aggressive. Positive . Good defensive work rate as well. But the end product is lacking. He was not a threat at all – except from that free-kick which schmeichel saved. –  6
Marcus Rashford
Scored the decisive penalty and hit the post with a superb free-kick. But he doesn’t prowl in the box enough. – 7

Substitutes
Fred
He did what he was supposed to do . Nothing more ,nothing less. Starting him and mctominay together would be ideal . -6
Tahith Chong
There was a moment or two of brilliance on his part ,but you get the feeling that he is not ready for first team football yet. – 5
