A look at player performances after a night where United will feel lucky to have come away with a point.

David de Gea:
Somewhat of a surprise selection to begin with but one that proved to pay off. The commanding Spaniard being the main reason United were spared an embarrassing result. – 7

Diogo Dalot:
Making his long awaited return , the young full back showed glimpses of his attacking prowess however these moments were ultimately fruitless and few and far between. – 6

Victor Lindelof :
The only outfield player that truly looked comfortable on the ball and on the pitch overall. Still one half of our best defensive partnership at the moment. – 6.5

Marcos Rojo:
After a few impressive outings this season, especially in United’s Europa League opener, this on paper appeared to be a wise choice to partner Lindelof. Sadly however the rashness and inconsistency in his game reared its ugly head again. – 5

Brandon Williams:
Making his full debut at left back, the young Manchester born Williams showed a keen eye for pushing forward and carrying the attack out from the back. Looks a future star and potential competition for Shaw. – 6

After a string of impressive features coming off the bench, many United fans were calling for the Brazilian to feature more prominently in United’s starting 11. This faith however was not repaid as the midfielder often gave away possession with poor passing. – 3.5

Nemanja Matic:
Never ceases to amaze with how much poorer his performances get game by game. Looked more like a place holder on the pitch and offered nothing going forward or back. – 3

Daniel James:
Started the game upfront before switching position with Greenwood out wide on the right. A surprisingly ineffective evening from the young Welshman. – 4.5

Juan Mata:
Playing in what many believe to be his ideal position as an attacking midfielder, the veteran had little impact going forward and was certainly not helped by United’s one dimensional and predictable runs off the ball. – 4.5

Angel Gomes:
The only shining light going forward for United, it’s a pity his team mates didn’t offer more. – 5.5

Mason Greenwood:
Seemed to have more impact after switching position with Daniel James sadly it still wasn’t enough. The first below par performance from the youngster. – 4.5

Marcus Rashford:
Replacing Daniel James, had a decent impact coming off the bench. Should have been awarded a penalty late on. – 5

Jesse Lingard:
His late introduction to the game was cut short after going off with injury. Had little time to make an impact. – 4

Scott McTominay:
Only came on with 7 minutes left to play but somehow still looked better than Matic or Fred had all game. – 5
